What is the time

The book I read is called timeline. The book was written by Michael Crichton. It’s more of a action kind of book. It is about a 3 historians (who’s names are marek, Kate and Oliver) who were sent by a company ITC to go to another universe that is stuck in the medival time. These historians have 2 objectives, they need to 1. find the professor (professor Johnston) and 2. Make it back home on time. They have to go through knights, leaders, random killers, and even an executioner.

Quarter 1 reflect

Generally I'm always prepared for class and feel like I have gotten solid grades. I have only missed one day and try to be on time to school (cause I was always late last year). The classes I have are pretty good so far and I haven’t found the challenge. So overall, quarter 1 is good.

Beyond the outsiders

The article I chose is called “self concept” and mainly just talks about how you feel about yourself and how you feel about what others think about you. This makes the book and the article that I read really similar. The first reason is because the article states, “Social Roles: We are all social beings whose behavior is shaped to some extent by the roles we play. Such roles as student, housewife, or member of the football team not only help others to recognize us but also help us to know what is expected of us in various situations.”  (Self concept section 1). This means that we all begin to shape ourselves into our roles for later in life. In the book, there were 2 kinds of people, socs and greasers. These two groups are now people mainly recognize other people.

Another reason that they are similar is the article talks about how we judge people just by how they look. This is true because the article states, “Mr. Clean - dressed in smart suit, carrying a briefcase opened to reveal a slide rule and books.
Mr. Dirty - dressed in an old T-shirt and jeans, slouched over a cheap sex novel.” (Self concept section 1). Like the article, the book says that socs dress in fancy clothes so that when they get in trouble with anybody, they would like the victim. Greasers dress in leather jackets and jeans to basically look “tuff” (cool), they also use grease to make their long hair look nicer (partially why they are called greasers).

Overall the these are a few reasons of why the article “self concept” and the outsiders are similar. Both talk about how they look and how we judge people based off how they look.

Outsiders book vs movie

The outsiders book vs movie

Overall the book and the movie were fairly similar, but like books, there are some differences. For example, in the beginning they start off pretty much the same were he says “when I got out of the theater…” (page 1, p.1). Also ponyboy tells cherry the story of why Johnny was scared of socs. They both talk about and show the rumble between the socs and the greasers and the greasers winning the rumble. Both films say that johnny killed bob and pony goes with him to run away to a church from there (dally tells them to go there). Lastly they show johnny dying and dally getting shot multiple times (then dying).

Since the book and movie have some big similarities, the movie still has a lot of differences from the book. First off unlike the book, the beginning for the movie shows johnny walking with ponyboy instead of it being ponyboy alone and almost getting jumped by socs. Also in the movie, they show what happened to dally before he got shot by cops. Lastly, the entire movie makes most of the events happen way too fast. When ponyboy told johnny that his folks don't want him at his house, in just 2 seconds, he realizes what he said was wrong. Also they skipped the part where they say ponyboy is doing bad in one classes and they skipped the part where he was in court.

The actors in this movie did an okay job (they do better now than they did before). They didn't get too into their characters and show that it really happened. For certain parts they got into it, but missed just a little bit. However, there was some actors that did slightly better than others.
